I have a new Sonos Beam Ultra connected to a TCL 55" SQD-Mini LED (Google TV, EU) on HDMI 1 (ARC/eARC), using the HDMI cable that came with the Beam.
Every time I turn the TV on, the Beam starts at volume 0 (almost silent). I have to raise it with the remote before I hear anything. If I switch the TV audio output to the internal speakers, sound works normally. The problem only happens on ARC/eARC.
What I already tried:
- HDMI Control / CEC on (the TV will not let me turn it off while the Beam is the ARC device)
- eARC on, and also eARC off (ARC only): same result
- Other HDMI devices disconnected, only the Beam on HDMI 1
- TV and Beam firmware up to date
- TV setup re-run in the Sonos app
- Beam not muted, volume raised in the app, Night Sound off, Volume Limit checked
- Digital audio set to Auto and to PCM
- Full power cycle (both unplugged 30 seconds, Beam on first)
I contacted Sonos support. The replies were the same checklist I already found online (enable CEC, disconnect other HDMI devices, update firmware, try another cable, try another TV, factory reset). No known issue was confirmed, and I was not given a workaround.
Has anyone with a Beam Ultra (or Beam / Arc) and a TCL Google TV seen the volume reset to 0 on power-on? Did a setting, cable, or firmware update actually fix the CEC handshake?
